Animation Equations - Noah Ellman - Javascript Toolkit

Animation Equations

This page demonstrates the various easing equations, or animation styles. Every animation has an equation that gives the animation its feel, by effecting the speed, accelleration, and also more fancy movements such as the rubber brand movement.

Rollover the boxes below to view the animation for that equation

How to specify which equation to use?

Currently, the best way to use a specific easing equation is to specify it when you create the tween. The last parameter of the Tween constructor or the animate method takes a object of properties you can define for custom uses. Below demonstrates how:

var tween = new FX.Tween(div, "top", null, 100, 1.5, {ease: "easeOutBounce"} );

@Xymon: Your menu example throws a JS error about cleared scope for the opactiy tween. If you specify "this" as the parent in $('ul', this), it works fine.

Zach 11/05/14 :

@Xymon: That's really cool man. I sat there and stared at it for like 5min haha. FF 4 doesn't seem to like JS animation too much. It intermittently halts/lags all JS's a couple times throughout an animation. Safari is glassss on this rain thing tho.

Zach 11/05/14 :

@Xymon: Yes, I saw that and its fantastic. That page is actually what sold me on your animation efficiency. I was speaking more in terms of how did you make the gears fall in an arc then bounce like a ball? That's very cool.

Xymon 11/05/14 :

easeOutBounce FTW.

Admin 11/05/14 :

Hell yeah!

Admin 11/05/14 :

LOL, yes, thats really old. I liked that name except mojo.com was taken. I wanted to make fun of the DOJO JS framework.

Xymon 11/05/14 :

And was completely heartbroken when it was removed
